Eccentric Altered Book Journal

• I made this journal while in one of my eccentric old lady moods. I combined old and new together to create a unique multi-purpose journal. This journal can be used for anything from an event journal to a photo album. 
• This junk journal measures 4.5 x 7.5 inches. It has 16 pages (34 faces), 15 pockets or tuck spaces, and 34 tags. Lots of jewelry chain and charms on the binding and closure. Vintage magazine cutouts, and designer paper cutouts throughout the journal give it a vintage look and feel. Lots of space for adding your own writing, pictures or other ephemera.

Organizing working space

New to me shelves to reorganize my working space. I like to keep everything at hand so I can grab what I want without having to go through a lot of boxes and drawers. My sister-in-law was getting rid of the two shelves so they found a new home on and beside my desk. I still have stuff to unpack and organize but this is a start.

"By the Sea" Journal, photo album, vacation, beach, wedding journal

The "By the Sea" album measures 6 x 6 inches and is bound with a unique piano hinge binding made of wood. The little dowels hold the book together and weaving on both ends holds the dowels in place. The ends of the dowels reminded me of the wooden beach piles on the pier. The color scheme reflects the ocean with various shades of blues and greens. Images are either vintage or magazine cutouts. There are 20 pages to fill with pictures and written memories. The book contains 12 pockets and 3 envelopes to stash important memorabilia. The album / journal also contains 30 journaling spots and 20 journaling cards. The spine is decorated with colorful fabric ribbon. 

This book would be good for a travel journal, for recording that special beach vacation or beach wedding. There is lots of room for both photographs and for journal entries.

Washi Tape Edge Altered Composition Book

I did make it my own by putting the washi tape on the bottom of the pages as well made pockets with the taped together pages. 

How to talk about your art work....

You never "just" do something you explain the painstaking care, love, thought, and planning that goes into every line, brush stroke, paper selection and glimmer mist squirt:) If you just spray some colored paint on a piece of paper it does not sound like you put a lot of thought into it and you just made your work seem juvenile. However, if you tell someone, "Your theme was to evoke visions of multidimensional rainbows by using transparent color medium in random patterns." Then you have elevated your work to that of a professional just by changing your vocabulary.
