How to talk about your art work....

You never "just" do something you explain the painstaking care, love, thought, and planning that goes into every line, brush stroke, paper selection and glimmer mist squirt:) If you just spray some colored paint on a piece of paper it does not sound like you put a lot of thought into it and you just made your work seem juvenile. However, if you tell someone, "Your theme was to evoke visions of multidimensional rainbows by using transparent color medium in random patterns." Then you have elevated your work to that of a professional just by changing your vocabulary.

Ultra Micro Mini Junk Journal

2" tall by 1" wide, with a pocket, tag, and two signatures:) That was fun!

Chip board scrap challenge

I had a pile of scrap chipboard that I could never seem to use up, so I challenged myself to use it. I

ended up with 22 sets of covers and spines. Some are ridiculously small but it will be fun to see what

transpires. Finished one journal from the pile yesterday. It is 8.5 inches tall by 4.5 inches wide with 9

signatures. Only one pocket on the front cover, this one turned out to be all about writing.

Short Journal Progress

I got the pages of my "Short Journal" bound. Each page of the journal is one month. It it broken up into sections. The front of the page has a journaling spot to write one word for the day. The next page has journaling spots to write a few sentences about the week. There is a pocket that faces the "week" spots with tags, and the last page has a journaling spot to write a paragraph or two about the month. Embellishments will be added as the year progresses. I did a tutorial on how i made the pages. http://youtu.be/pJ-4_MxRINk

Mixed Media Journal Cover with Dollar Tree Party Favors

I was dollar tree shopping and saw a bunch of stuff in the party favor section. I loved the shapes and wondered about using them on a mixed media journal cover. I glued the pieces down with E6000 and painted over it all with fabric paint. I think I will paint the plastic pieces with a paint made for plastic in a different shade of black. Not sure what color theme I'm going to use yet, but I think it's going well. The clock part was a kids necklace that I didn't photograph before I painted it. I love the glow in the dark flowers. I didn't use them for this cover, but there is another one in my head:)

Postal Theme Portable Writers Desk/Stationary Set/Journal

Reminiscent of a time not too long ago when writing and receiving mail was an event.
This writers desk has lots of interesting folds, pockets, and tags. There is a place for everything like pens, pencils, or your favorite fountain pen as well as envelopes and writing pads. There are faux cork board panels for keeping post-it notes. Two other fold out pockets for adding pictures that can also be tied  together to make additional pockets. The journal is held together with a Velcro closure and is very portable.

Day Trip Photo / Memory Keeper Album

We all make those short but memorable day trips to places like the zoo, a special concert, botanical garden, or museum. This is a great little album to keep mementos and photos of these mini adventures. This photo album contains 6 large envelope pockets to hold lots of photos! Each envelope contains a mini album and journaling cards. The album measures 11.5" long by 5" wide and 2" deep. The title is spelled out using Tim Holtz Ideology license plates. The border is decorated with washi tape and all the closures are Velcro. Each envelope is made from a different themed paper such as cameras, musical scores, call outs, doggie bones etc. There are also two center pockets that contain photo tags.

This paper is so beautiful I designed this album to fit the paper. I used Tim Holtz Seasonal Paper collection. This is a file folder album with 6 pocket pages. Each page contains a large tag and most pages have pockets that contain smaller tags or folding tags. The cover is embellished with gold ribbon down either side of the spine along with a gold and silver ribbon bunch at the top of the spine. "Celebrate" is on a metal tag on the top left hand corner of the book and "Christmas" is spelled out with hand painted and distressed letters on paper covered chipboard blocks. There is lots of room in this 9 x 10 inch album for many recipes, photos, or both.
